Description: Jack Boyle and his old friend Joxer Daly are two tenement dwellers who put work into trying to avoid work. Boyle is a fantasist who styles himself a Captain of the high seas and regales his companion with maritime tales. Jacks wife Juno is the bread winner and moral powerhouse but she cannot stop her life unraveling as she is surrounded by a family who do not deserve her. Johnny her son is a moral weakling and her daughter Mary is a very poor judge of men. Therein lies the tale.
