Birdwatch Ireland Kildare Branch invites you to a walk in Mullaghreelan Wood, Near Athy, and allows this picturesque old woodland estate to offer a unique forest experience.
Adjoining Kilkea Castle, which was built in 1180 AD, Mullaghreelan Wood encircles a hill top rath which overlooks Kilkea Castle, and offers excellent views westward over the surrounding rolling landscape. One of the two walks, the O’Tuathaill
Walk (2kms, 45mins, moderate) goes via the wishing well in the North East of the forest, past a viewing point, and back to the car park.
Free parking is available for 20 cars.
The theme for Biodiversity Week 2019 is ‘Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health’.
