Selvage (a line of self securing knitting), is a theatre show about unravelling tightly wound modern anxieties and a boy’s triumph over his ‘gnaw’. It is a creative examination of the countless avenues people trudge in an effort to calm themselves while a ‘gnaw’ waits not far from the surface. Following the incarceration of his beloved granny, Selvage follows Joe as he navigates an often cruel world, seeking solace in consumerism, charity and religion.
Written by James Riordan, Directed by Lara Campbell
Brought to you by Galway’s Brú Theatre, Selvage is an evocative and inventive theatre show featuring a live music score from Anna Mullarkey, puppetry and physical storytelling. Nominated for two Irish Times Theatre Awards (Best Actor & Best Lighting-Sarah Jane Shiels).
Selvage was initially developed through the Druid FUEL programme.
