About The Play
Set in the mountains of Connemara, the play centres around Maureen Folan, a plain and lonely woman in her early 40s, and Mag, her manipulative, aging mother. The two share a turbulent and unhealthy existence. Mag’s interference in Maureen’s first, and potentially last, romantic relationship sets in motion a chain of events that are as tragically funny as they are horrific.
The Group
Established in 2019, The Ray Leonard Players, from Claremorris, was founded to honour the legacy of the late, great director Ray Leonard. Well known and respected in drama circles across the country, Ray was a massive inspiration to founding members Damien Conway and Anne Ronayne, as well as countless other performers in the West. The group hopes to continue Ray Leonard’s great reputation in the drama world.
