Santa is coming in Kildare Town

Great Excitement building for Christmas and the arrival of Santa who will switch on the Christmas Lights Friday 8th December at 7 pm in the Square Kildare.

Please come out to welcome Santa to Kildare and see our beautiful town Christmas Lights.

Santa's Reindeer Hospital

1. Our famous overnight SLEEP OVER includes our Magical Trail experience + Santa Visit with Gift, a Festive Banquet Meal (dinner), Bed & Breakfast Stay + evening Santa’s Magical Show with Elf Entertainment!

We are now in our 15th YEAR of running our award-winning leading Kildare Santa experience…we really love all things Santa and believe in lots of FUN, MAGIC and SMILES along the way!!! To date Santa’s Magical Trail has raised €125,000 for children’s charities and local community projects. This year we will be supporting Barretstown as our nominated and locally County Kildare based childrens charity.

Kildangan Christmas Fair

Join us on Sunday 3rd December 12-4pm at the Community Hall, Kildangan.  Sprinkling the magic of Christmas community wide, Kildangan Scouts host their annual Christmas Fair again this year.

Visit Santa and the elves in their winter wonderland grotto, meet Mrs Clause and post your Santa letter from our North Pole Post Box.

This wonderful seasonal event invites you to indulge in some tasty treats, warm up with our specialty hot chocolate and be inspired by the wonderful gifts, treats and delights on offer.  To end the day, we have an array of super raffle prizes to win.

Winter Wonderland @ Barretstown

Join us for a fantastic Christmas filled day in the beautiful setting of Barretstown. Visitor’s will get to browse through the Christmas market stalls, sampling some delicious foods and getting to enjoy mince pies and mulled wine in Barretstown’s fabulous new dining hall, while enjoying a selection of Christmas songs from the Ballymore Concert Band. For kids there will be an opportunity to visit Santa’s grotto, play games with the Elves, listen to Christmas stories and give Santa your all-important letter!

Pricing

Admission to Winter Wonderland is free but a donation would be appreciated. 

If you choose to visit Santa this will come with the following cost and booking is Essential as spaces are limited.

  • Family pass ( 2 adults & 2 children) : €25
  • Adult admission: €5
  • Child admission: €10

Session Times With Santa

We are going to be running three main sessions throughout the day. In the Eventbrite booking you will have the opportunity to choose between the following times:

  • Slot One: 10.00am
  • Slot Two: 12.00am
  • Slot Three: 14.00pm

Please note if you are visiting Santa that you need to arrive at Barretstown 30 minutes prior to your allocated time for registration.

Christmas Market and Craft Fair

There is free admission to this event with Santa, Nativity Scene and Live Music at 2pm from:

Parking is available at Castletown from Exit 6 off the M4 at Celbridge West or in historic Celbridge village with a 10-15 minute walk along the lime tree avenue of the parklands.

Christmas Horse/Pony Show & Craft Fair

Coilog Eventing are running their 3rd Annual Christmas Horse/Pony unregistered Showjumping and Christmas Craft Fair on December 4th.   Santa & Mrs Claus will be arriving at 12 noon in their Horse Carraige (Rudolph is taking a day off ) to visit all the boys and girls.

We start our Showjumping Day with Cross Poles at 10am for all the Christmas Elve, Pony/Horse Unregistered Clear Round Jumping starting at 10.30 with 40cm height and working up to 1meter Clear round.  Prises for the Best Turned Out, Best Fancy Dress, Best Equation Round of jumping in each class, spot prizes in each class, rosettes for clear rounds and lucky dip clear rounds. We will also have Lead Rein Fancy Dress for Under 5 starting at 1.30pm and Under 10 at 2.30pm.

In our Indoor Arena we will have lots of different drafts on display from the locality and surrounds to help with the Christmas Present shopping.  It promises to be a great day out for all the family.  Free entry to Coilog Show Grounds, Visit Santa for €7 and get a small gift , hot chocolate and home made cookie.  Fran Byrne Photography will be available during the day if you would like to get a photo with Santaand Mrs Claus.   Coilog Arena Cafe will be open all day for you to enjoy breakfast, lunch or our speciality coffee with some lovely homemade mince pies.

A Christmas Carol

Being a Ghost Story of Christmas

The award-winning Dyad Productions, (A Room of One’s Own, I, Elizabeth, Austen’s Women, Female Gothic) who have toured their sell-out festive show Christmas Gothic since 2015, now bring their magic to Dickens’ classic and perennially relevant ghost story.

It’s Christmas Eve, and the miserly misanthrope, Ebenezer Scrooge, is about to have a ghostly night he’ll never forget.  Dickens’ festive, immortal tale of redemption and compassion is brought to life in Dyad’s inimitable solo style.

Draw near for an evening of mistletoe and merriment in the company of Marley, Fezziwig, Cratchit et al to discover the true meaning of Christmas: tenderness for the past, courage for the present, and hope for the future.

Ebenezer lives in us all, and this glorious tale reminds us how not to give in to the Scrooge within.

Taking inspiration from Dickens’ original performances of his own work and utilising the brilliant narrator of the novel to bring the story to life, the piece is performed by Andrew Margerison (Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland, Macbeth), and directed by Rebecca Vaughan.
