Kildare Biodiversity Week 2019 Event – The Wildflowers of a Disused Sandpit
May 18 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Disused sandpits and quarries are often overlooked habitats that contain wildflowers that are now scarce in the general farmed landscape due to modern intensive farming practices. Wild Kildare will introduce you to many of these stunning plants that are in flower at this time of the year.
Meeting Point: The Sandpit is located on the L2019 opposite W Howard Kildare Ltd at Arthurstown, South of Kill.
Admission: Free event – No booking required.
Suitability: Suitable for children. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
The theme for Biodiversity Week 2019 is ‘Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health’.
Kildare Biodiversity Week has been organised to develop awareness of the importance of biodiversity and to better understand its value to the local, national and international communities.
The people of Kildare are invited to get out into Kildare’s Biodiversity, to visit Kildare wild spots, lakes, rivers, bogs, woodlands or to simply enjoy the biodiversity of their back garden.
