Birdwatch Ireland Kildare Branch invites you to a walk in Pollardstown Fen to identify and enjoy the bird life in this nature reserve of international importance.
Situated on the northern margin of the Curragh, Pollardstown Fen is approximately 3km from Newbridge, County Kildare.
The area of the fen is 220 hectares, and a significant percent is state owned. Pollardstown Fen is the largest remaining calcareous (alkaline and calcium containing) spring fed fen in Ireland, and hosts a number of rare vegetation types and invertebrates, all which are food sources for a large and varied population of birds.
Free parking is available as well as a boardwalk which allows easy access to the fen.
Location: Pollardstown Fen (3km from Newbridge).
Admission: Free event - No booking required.

The people of Kildare are invited to get out into Kildare’s Biodiversity, to visit Kildare wild spots, lakes, rivers, bogs, woodlands or to simply enjoy the biodiversity of their back garden.
